*** How good are carriers in redirecting or returning freight? ***
Yesterday close to day end, my client (let's call him Client A) called me and advised he had inputted the wrong receiver address for one of his shipments to which the shipment had already got picked up by the carrier 30 minutes prior.
Normally the 2 options are
1. Inform the carrier customer service team to redirect the shipment to the correct address or
2. Inform the carrier's customer service team to return the item back to my client.
Now ... from previous experiences none of these 2 options have worked out well for my customer and theirs: extra costs of returning the shipment to the sender and / or extra costs for redirecting it (with delays).
Here's how it all ended happily ever after...
I know one of my other clients (Client B) who is 5KM away from this client (Client A) has a daily pickup with the same carrier company at 3:30pm. The time now was 3:28pm. So creative thinking came into play. Perhaps the same driver collects from this Client B.
A quick call to Client B revealed 2 things - the driver was just reversing his truck (good news!) to collect the goods - on time! The other thing was this driver thou sceptical at first, wanted to help and therefore didn't refuse giving the other drivers mobile number (normally they don't).
Quick call to the driver of Client A explaining what happened, and with a chuckle the driver said he would go back to Client A to return the incorrect item.
Doesn't end there...
Called Client A and told him the good news plus sent him the correct labels for the wrong shipment, so that this item can now travel to his customer to the right address as planned and promised.
Win - Win situation for all.

*** Perfect example of using your network ***
My client's shipment was stuck in customs in Italy.
DHL Italy sent the receiver two letters requesting for more information, to which he sent to my client.
My client reached out to me seeking assistance as the DHL letters were in Italian.
I now had three options:
1. Contact DHL Australia to assist - unfortunately they couldn't interpret it and advised the receiver to sort it out with Italy - not a good option to back to the all parties as they reached out initially anyway.
2. Ask my 8 year old son to translate as he is learning Italian in school or his school teacher - probably not going to happen
3. Ask another client who is from Italy to help.
Went with option 3 and all DHL Italy were asking was to resend them a new invoice indicating either the receiver's EORI number (if importing as a business) or Fiscal Code (if importing as a personal item).
Invoice recreated with the correct code indicated and next day the item clears customs and gets delivered. Win for all.

*** FREIGHT BULLETIN - STARTRACK CHANGES BOOKING TIMES ***
Firstly, Happy New Year everyone.
To get things started, kindly note from midnight tonight Startrack have changed their cut off times for bookings and pickups across Australia.
This is due to many of their branches across Australia having diminishing staff from COVID related issues (isolation / cases, etc.)
New times are:
* 11am booking cut off time
* 1pm pickup cut off time (collections to be done before 1pm)
Recommendation
> Use other carriers that we partner with - TNT, Toll, Northline, Sadleirs, DHL, etc
> Communicate with your customers of potential delays in pickup and deliveries.

*** Providing Business Agility ***
I was helping my client with an urgent pickup from the Eastern States to get to Perth before Thursday as they leave to go to South Africa on Friday.
The supplier turned out to be a company I had dealt with in my previous work place (small world!). They were stuck in organising the freight themselves as they only partnered with TNT (who are currently on strike). The other option was Australia Post but due to the high volumes, I wasn't comfortable in having them send via this carrier, knowing the criticality of it.
Peaked their interest when I mentioned I can organise this easily with another carrier with an estimated delivery time of Thursday (latest).
This is why I love what I do because I enable businesses to become more agile and meet their customer's requirements and expectations.
That's what its all about right???

TNT /FEDEX INDUSTRIAL ACTION
We have received confirmation of Industrial action planned for this week by TNT / Fedex with rolling 4 hour stoppages across all states as per below:
* Monday 22nd November - NSW & WA.
* Tuesday 23rd November - VIC.
* Wednesday 24th November - QLD & SA.
There may be NO pickups / deliveries on these days with the respective States.
Recommendation
1. Communicate with your customers of potential delays in pickup and deliveries.
2. Use other carriers that we partner with - Startrack, Toll, Northline, Sadleirs, DHL, UPS, etc
3. Book collections for tomorrow

*** Service Restrictions Exporting / Importing to / from New Zealand? ***
Hi All.
Kindly note that TNT have temporarily suspended their Economy Express Services due to the huge backlog and high volume of freight in this lane.
TNT Express service is still available but delays are expected in the movement of freight.
Other alternatives I could suggest are DHL and UPS Air Express Services, which are available through our shipping portal.
Feel free to reach out if you need a cost effective solution for this lane.

*** Is the Global Supply Chain Broken ***
> Port Congestion in every Port
> Port Closures
> Inland Delays in every Origin
> Vessel Bypasses
> Equipment Shortages
> Space Shortages
> Skyrocketing Rates
> USA paying more Freight $$$ for China Exports = less vessels to Australia
> Booking cancellations without notice
> Manufacturing Delays due to raw materials not being available
Things are worse now than 8 months ago.
All these factors are increasing the transit times to almost double to what they originally were.
NOTE: above factors are related to Air Cargo and Sea Freight movements.
Though Air Express movements are also having their delays, freight is moving through this service. This is an opportune time to shift part of your freight to Air Express carriers like DHL, TNT / Fedex and UPS.
To give you an example, a 400KG pallet import from Europe to Perth took just 4 days to get delivered with our partner carrier. Call it lucky!

*** FREIGHT BULLETIN - COVID UPDATE IN VIETNAM ***
Kindly note due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation in Vietnam, DHL Express have temporarily suspended all pick-ups and delivery services effective until 6th September 2021.
This will impact all imports and exports out of the country via DHL.
Suppliers and Manufacturers in Vietnam have also shut down so please check with them first.

*** Talk About Being Speedy Gonzales ***
I was super surprised to see a 330KG pallet take only 4 days via Air from the time it got picked up in Finland and get delivered in the Perth Metro.
Haven't seen those sort of transit times in a long time (possibly pre-covid).
And note, this was not via Air Cargo (dedicated space)!
Second and third pallet of larger weight seem to be travelling in record time too.

*** FREIGHT BULLETIN - TNT DEPOTS UNAVAILABLE***
TNT depot in Erskine Park, NSW is running at 60% capacity. With the depot closed last week, they currently have a backlog of existing freight to process. Therefore, pickups around this area will not be undertaken and freight movement will be delayed.
TNT Enfield Depot in NSW has gone into lockdown. Any shipments that are currently in transit will be held at this depot until it opens up. Therefore, pickups around this area will also not be undertaken and freight movement will be delayed.

My Why
Why I joined the InXpress Franchise
I have been an employee most of my life in various industries fulfilling various roles - stores clerk, website designer, ICT Technician, ICT Manager, Business Development Manager, Government Account Manager. In the last employed role, I worked for a State Government conducting Government to Government business. This is where I really flourished and realised my potential - was in a new industry with a steep learning curve, but I achieved the Western Australia’s Spatial Excellence Award and got nominated for WA Business News 40 Under 40 for Innovation and Commercialisation.
My contract ended with the State Government, and it was either look for another job or start something of my own. I had started a small business, but wasn’t successful at it. So, started looking for a business model which would allow me 3 things:
Be Supportive in my growth and success
Create a passive income stream
Be able to enjoy the spoils with my family and friends
InXpress had the potential to achieve these 3, and therefore took the plunge in an industry which I had no prior knowledge ... but if I can achieve what I did in Government in a short space of time, I believe I can do this do.
So here I am to help businesses save Time, Money and Hassle of Shipping.
