Adelaide!!! 700,000 or more of us need to pull our fingers out of our backsides and we need to do it quickly…
Crows' fans... I feel like after our loss to Collingwood, as a state we are a little bit down in the dumps. I know myself personally, I was super flat after the game and the days that followed. So were my family, workplace and friends. Everyone that I bumped into seemed to sort of given up a little bit??? That needs to change… and fast!!!!
Last night, I saw something that has lifted me as a supporter and as a South Australian and I feel it can lift the whole state! From 6am yesterday, people started lining up at the Entertainment Centre to sleep out and be the first to buy tickets to the Crows vs Hawthorn game.
These people are the core of what footy is all about, the passion, dedication and support they are showing is exceptional... You can't buy that kinda LOVE!
Last night after she finished working at the show, I took my 16-year-old daughter for a drive. I said to her, “Have you got 20 minutes; I want to show you something.”
We drove to the Entertainment Centre and parked on Port Road. It was 10pm and freezing cold. I showed her the line up. I pointed to them and said to her, “Honey, if you want to be successful in life, then you need to be passionate about something and you need to make sacrifices. I said that is what these supporters are doing right now. Each and every one of them is going above and beyond to support their football club. Tonight, they will sleep out in the cold. That is dedication. That is passion. Be like these people."
She agreed and then we started to talk about how we could support these people sleeping in the cold, so I contacted the Adelaide Football Club. I was pumped to see the Club were one step ahead of me. They had teamed up with Hungry Jack's to deliver free breakfasts to everyone in the line up and I was pumped to be able to be there to see them being handed out this morning!
Such a great example of the football club supporting their supporters. So good to see.Very cool by AFC and HJ's!
I spoke to the man at the front of the line up. James from Trinity Gardens, an elderly gent and he had lined up since 6am Saturday. He was jovial and full of fun and over then moon to think he was only hours away from securing tickets. That’s James in the photo here.
I am calling on all my media friends to lead the charge in building up the excitement for Friday nights game. We are in the media and we have the opportunity to spread excitement and positivity about great things happening in this state. And that’s what all of us should be doing now.
So bring on Friday night. For those sitting on the fence I ask you who would you rather support? Crows or Hawthorn… South Australia or Victoria… I welcome any AFL lovers who are supporting the Crows and SA during the Crows finals campaign. I understand some supporters will never support another team but my thoughts on that are this.
There is a lot of division in the world right now. A lotta negativity, hate and fighting. Here’s a chance for our state to unite and get excited about something so simple as a game of footy. If you’re more interested in trying to create division during this moment of unity, then perhaps you are best to follow advice my Mum used to tell me If you have nothing nice to say then you're better to say nothing at all”, I have always enjoyed supporting Port during any finals but I understand not all supporters share this same view.
A win Friday night has far more impact on this state than people realise. It’s a boost economically to our state creating work and jobs in all forms. When people are happier, they spend more money, more likely to go out, the list is endless.
READ THIS BIT ADELAIDE... The Crows have beaten the Hawks three out of the last five times they have met.
We can do this SA but we need the state to get behind the club. Anyone lucky enough to get tickets to the game needs to be screaming their heads off right from the start.
To those that slept out to buy your tickets, I find you inspirational and I’m sure the Crows players and the Club will feel exactly the same. Bravo.
GO CROWS... We are the pride of South Australia!
❤️💙💛
