Infant Loss Awareness Month

Sometimes the people we miss most are those we had the shortest time to know.

The loss of a baby is not measured by days, weeks, or months. It is the loss of hopes, dreams, and a future imagined with love. Whether a child was held in your arms or only in your heart, your grief is real, and your baby matters.

Science tells us that in many pregnancies, a baby's cells can remain with their mother for years, even decades. For some families, this offers a gentle reminder that the bond between parent and child can endure in ways both seen and unseen.

To the families carrying the memory of a baby gone too soon, we remember with you. Your child is loved, remembered, and will never be forgotten.

A couple of our former police team members once again took part in this year’s Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance on Saturday, a national event honouring police officers who have lost their lives in service.
They ride alongside police, families and community members from across Australia to remember the fallen and raise funds for Police Legacy organisations.

25 years later, we remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 people whose lives were taken in the attacks.

We remember the passengers and crews of the four aircraft, the people working in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military personnel, and ordinary citizens who responded with courage and compassion.

The numbers tell only part of the story:

2,977 people were killed in the attacks, excluding the 19 hijackers.
2,753 people died in New York.
125 people died in the Pentagon.
265 people died amongst the 4 flights
Victims came from more than 90 countries.
344 firefighters and paramedics and 71 law enforcement officers died at the World Trade Center.
55 military personnel died at the Pentagon.
More than 6,000 people were injured.
Thousands of first responders, survivors, residents, workers, and volunteers have since faced serious, often life changing health effects connected to the attacks and their aftermath. 25 years on, remembrance is more than looking back. It means honouring every life lost, recognising the lasting impact on families and communities, and remembering the extraordinary acts of service shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We will never forget.

THREE MOON SILOS

This wonderful silo art depicts Joel Fergie’s and Travis Vinson’s version of the legend of the naming of the Three Moon. It depicts an aboriginal elder sharing dreamtime stories and of times gone by with his granddaughter. It tells the story of the legends of the naming of Three Moon.
Which includes a swagman, Aboriginal stockman or a Chinese station cook, that were boiling their billy on the banks of the creek and noticed three moon's – one in the sky, one reflecting on the creek and one reflecting in his billy.
There is another story also of how the name came about, involving aboriginals that were given the job of washing the sheep at a local property along the river bank around 1887. The way it was communicated to the aboriginals who wanted to come back to work was to return to the same location on the riverbend when three moon's had passed away, this location from then on was called Three Moon.

As we all live busy lives, we must remember to make time for self care.
June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. An important reminder that a simple check can save lives. Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australia. Screening helps detect cancer early, when it’s more treatable. Most bowel cancers start as polyps, which can often be found and removed. It’s important to be aware of early warning signs as early detection can save lives.
Symptoms to look for include:

- Blood in your poo or on toilet paper
- Ongoing changes in bowel habits (diarrhoea/constipation)
- Abdominal pain, bloating, or feeling like your bowel doesn’t empty fully
- Unexplained weight loss or unusual fatigue

If something feels off, get it checked. A quick appointment with your GP could make all the difference.
