Turns out...My questionable Year 9 class forger skills came in handy after all...😂

I started this whole thing with a $600 Cricut and absolutely no idea what I was doing.

My very first workshop, I genuinely had no clue if a single person would show up. They did, and I've now taught 1,370+ students across 92+ workshops🥹

My first live calligraphy event was handlettering Christmas tags for CBRE while super pregnant with my daughter Abbie. I nearly said no to the opportunity at the time because I wasn't ready. I'm so glad I did it anyway.

I once tried to launch a baby sign line when COVID happened and I also became a first time mum. Talk about pressure...The baby sign launch flopped, spectacularly and quietly. Armed with my Ergobaby, I strapped Abbie in and got. to. work 🙌🏼

When I decided to go back to a 9 to 5 after being self-employed for several years, I really thought for a long time that I failed, like I, wasn't good enough. Turns out, it was the opposite. It was proof of what I was actually capable of 🔥

7:15am: hair done (not yours), kids and backpacks ready and out the door

9:00am: work has started and you barely get there, then have to deal with office small talk after just surviving morning toddler tantrums over who gets to sit behind you in the car (hiiiiii how are youuuuu good how are youuuu) 😆

10:00am: checking your phone hoping daycare doesn't ring you to tell you your child is sick and needs to be picked up 🥲

6:00pm: get home from work, dinner, bathtime, one more story...

9:30pm: you're exhausted and doomscroll on Instagram 'to relax', staying waaaay past midnight in an attempt to have some time for yourself 🫠

You haven't had one minute that was just yours today.

If you read this and felt personally attacked, this one's for you.

I'm not going to tell you to 'practice self care' because I know what happens when someone tells a mum to go run a bubble bath. She either laughs or cries, sometimes both.

I built my calligraphy workshops for the version of you that used to have hobbies. The one who used to paint, write, dance, whatever it was, before your days filled up with everyone else's needs.

One morning. Just you. No one asking you for anything 😌✨
