Today we visited The Castle Hill Giant Book Fair by Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney, and it was AWESOME! 💙

We found so many great-quality books at bargain prices! What a wonderful way to give pre-loved books a second life and do something good for our planet. 🌏📖

But do you know what’s even better than a great bargain? All proceeds from the Book Fair go towards funding Lifeline’s crisis support and su***de prevention services.** 💙

So, we get to take home some wonderful books, help reduce waste, AND support people who may be going through a difficult time. What a win for everyone!

This week is mental health awareness week and it is something all of us here at Driving Miss Daisy are very passionate about. 💛



1 in 5 Australians aged 16-85 (4.3 million people) have experienced a mental health disorder at some point in the last 12 months and we would like to see that number be a lot closer to 0.

🌻 Three Years of Understanding, Awareness and Inclusion

For the past three years, Driving Miss Daisy has proudly supported the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, helping raise awareness that not all disabilities are visible.

From dementia and autism to chronic health conditions, hearing loss and many other hidden disabilities, everyone’s experience is different.

By increasing our understanding and adapting the way we support people, we can help make every journey feel more comfortable, welcoming and inclusive.

Together, we’re creating communities where everyone feels seen, understood and supported. 💛

Ever since I started Drinving Miss Daisy Castle Hill, there are days when I can’t drive my daughter to childcare. On those days, my wife pushes the baby stroller, takes our elder daughter, and walks to school.

At first, it was simply something we had to do.

Then we started thinking — can we make our walks more meaningful?

After some research, my wife found Camp Quality's Big Walk for Little Kids, which raises funds to support children facing cancer and their families, helping bring joy and support into their lives during a very difficult time.

It reminded us of what the Bible teaches us:

“Love your neighbour as yourself.” — Mark 12:31

We teach our kids to be thankful for what we have, but we also want them to remember that there are children and families who are going through much harder times.

If we can lend a hand, we lend a hand.
If we can donate, we donate.
And if we can walk, we walk.

After one month, I am SOOO proud to say that we did it! 💙

Together, we walked 65km in one month and reached our fundraising target!

A very special thank you to Baulkham Hills Early Learning Centre for your amazing support. You didn’t just support us — your wonderful staff actually organised a walk and joined us. That really meant a lot to our family.

But more than the 65km or the fundraising target, I hope this experience leaves something much more important in my little ones’ hearts.

I hope they learn to enjoy the joy of helping others.
To care for their neighbours.
To be kind.
And to be loving.

Sometimes, a simple walk can teach our children a lesson that lasts a lifetime. 💙

📚 Book lovers, parents — in case you didn’t know, don’t miss out!

The Friends of The Hills Library Book Sale is happening at Castle Hill Library as part of the Orange Blossom Festival! 🍊📚

There are lots of great books for adults, and especially for kids! I picked up a few wonderful books for my two daughters, and they’re in fantastic condition. 📖💙

Even better, the funds raised go towards purchasing extra resources for The Hills Shire Library Service. What a great way to support our community while finding some great books for ourselves and our kids!

Last but not least, a big shout-out to our council, The Hills Shire Council, staff and all the wonderful volunteers who make this event happen. You guys are awesome! 👏💙
