"For Our Elders" is the theme of NAIDOC Week in 2023. The history, culture, and accomplishments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are being honoured during this celebration. In every period of our history and across generations, our Elders have been crucial in shaping who we are today.
We are happy to have the most deadliest performers showcasing their passion for music and Torres Strait Island culture on one stage at NAIDOC IN THE CITY in Sydney's Hyde Park.
Athe Gavin, elder and Director of Kaygus Logistics, is playing the base guitar with his cousin and lead vocalist, Aka Cindy, who is nothing short of extraordinary; Cindy has been active in the music business for decades.
They are joined by Uncle Johnny, a well-known performer in the Las Vegas scene, and other outstanding musicians and vocalists to sing songs from the Torres Strait Islands, such as "Oh TI" and "Taba Naba."
