The Association of Filipinos and Fil-Australians in the University of Queensland (FilOz UQ), a student-led society based at the University of Queensland, gathers students interested to know more and promote the Philippine culture. It also provides support for incoming Filipino students, particularly AusAID and UQ International scholars, as they transition to a life in Queensland and offers opportu

nities for its members to network, engage in peer support and participate in efforts for the Philippines. Whether you are from UQ or other universities here in Australia, Filipino or non-Filipino, feel free to join our organization. Learn the Filipino culture and way of life! Vision: FilOz UQ envisions a proactive sociocultural organization and support group for Filipinos and other students at the University of Queensland

Mission: a) to organize activities for social interactions and cultural promotions; and, b) to provide assistance for both incoming and current Filipino students as they transition to a life in Australia

Objectives:
As a sociocultural organization
- To conduct a general assembly at the beginning of each semester;
- To showcase the Filipino culture during various international events at the University of Queensland; and,
- To engage members in social and networking activities

As a support group
- To welcome incoming Filipino students and help them transition in the university life; and,
- To initiate and participate in activities for charitable causes in the Philippines

Kumusta, Barkada,

As many of you may know, a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Mindanao on 8 June 2026, leaving thousands of Filipinos displaced from their homes and in urgent need of assistance.

In response, we are partnering with the Business Administration and Accountancy Student Council (BAASCo) of Mindanao State University – General Santos Campus to support their ongoing relief efforts for affected communities.

All funds raised will be donated directly to BAASCo and will help provide essential relief packages and basic necessities to individuals and families impacted by the earthquake. Through this collaboration, we hope to contribute to the immediate recovery and well-being of those facing the challenges brought about by this disaster. BAASCo posts regular transparency reports on their page if you would like to look at exactly where the donations will go towards!

Every donation, no matter the amount, can make a meaningful difference. Together, let us embody the spirit of bayanihan and extend our support to our fellow Filipinos in Mindanao.
