Guess who is going to Tyne Green parkrun today ?? Have a great event !
👕🪃 TOMORROW AT TYNE GREEN! 🪃👕
It's Friday ...... it's five to five (if I've scheduled this correctly) and it's time for ..... cra..... crack..... no not that .....a final reminder that tomorrow’s parkrun is going to be a little bit special!
👕 THE GREAT NORTH RUN T-SHIRT CHALLENGE
With the Great North Run weekend upon us, we’re inviting everyone to dig out an old Great North Run T-shirt and wear it to Tyne Green tomorrow.
1984? 2004? 2025? We want to see them all!
And there’s a prize for the oldest GNR shirt…
And, remarkably, the RD has actually conjured up a prize! He has gone above and beyond (well, he thinks he has, no one else is impressed) 🏆
It is a thing of beauty. A unique work of art. Something that money simply cannot buy…
Mainly because no one would ever pay money for it. 🤣
We can't wait to see who gets their hands on this highly coveted piece of Tyne Green memorabilia!
No old GNR shirt? No problem — wear your oldest, favourite or most ridiculous event T-shirt instead. 👕😂
🪃 AND THEN THERE'S DOLLY…
We also have a very special visitor joining us tomorrow.
B15 “Dolly”, the travelling parkrun boomerang, will be making her 43rd parkrun stop on her global journey, arriving with our very own Laura Sanger after her visit to Drumlanrig Castle.
She's travelled thousands of miles and visited parkruns across Australia, England, Germany, Poland and Scotland.
Now she's coming to Tyne Green! 🌏🪃
🍎 WILL THERE BE CAKE?
The RD promised the volunteers some apple-based cake, having recently discovered that his apple tree is apparently attempting to feed half of Northumberland.
He's still working on it…
We wouldn't hold your breath. 😂🍎🍰
🏃♀️ ONE LAST APPEAL…
We’re almost there with the volunteer roster, but we would still love to find a 21-minute pacer and a photographer for tomorrow. 📸
And, of course, more marshals are always very welcome! 🚩
Finally, if you're visiting Tyne Green for the first time, celebrating a milestone, birthday, anniversary or anything else worth shouting about, let us know in the comments and we'll give you a mention in the briefing. 🎉
So come along tomorrow and run, walk, volunteer, spectate, wear an ancient T-shirt, meet a travelling Australian boomerang…
…and possibly eat cake.
What more could you possibly want from a Saturday morning? 😁
See you at Tyne Green! ❤️
