Put your conservation knowledge to test. How do you call this bird in your local language?

This is one of the stories around it by !

A western Uganda, believe the bird gives permanent new good teeth to children after losing old ones through ‘ Exfoliation’, that normally happens between 4,5 to 7 ages.
A child would be told after removing the old tooth to sing for the bird “ Katsyetsye give me a new tooth i give you the old one” and throw the old lost tooth to the roof of the house in exchange for a new good tooth from the bird.

This was because African Pied Wagtail bird, like sitting and constructing their nests on roof tops of houses especially in the upcountry.
But also because of their noise and activeness, we believe it’s an indication or need to speak up, telling the truth and paying attention to the messages around oneself.

The African Pied Wagtail is an intelligent, vibrant bird that always urges us to stay alert and curious.
Additionally, the black and white plumage is linked to the balance between dark and light.

Pian upe conservation area is a top- tier biodiversity hotspot that offers Avian diversity and rare specie sightings in Northeastern Uganda.
