We are so grateful to clients that have been supportive of The Nappy Collective as their yearly campaign, Clean Bums for Little Ones, is wrapping up. We have received a few packets now and as so many more families are doing it tough, it's so nice to see the generosity of people, whether that be clients or others.

This weekend, there will be a number of events happening around Australia where a high number of nappies will be sorted, counted and packed into boxes to pass on to organisations that connect directly with the families in need. If you are interested in volunteering even if it's just for a day/half day/couple of days, please send us a message or contact The Nappy Collective directly. They would be very grateful for more help!!

In life, but especially as companion drivers, we need to be very mindful of being inclusive and it's something we can probably all be better at.

Inclusion Tip 1:

People with and without disabilities are interested in the same topics of conversation. A person’s disability isn’t always at the front of their mind.

When this lady first enquired about our services, she was worried that what she needed transport for first was going to be too early for us.

It was a 6.30am pick up to have her at I-med Radiology at Epworth Eastern by 7.15

I'm often asked what our hours of service are and I often answer, whenever it's needed. Early morning, evening/later evening/weekend? Not a problem, we'll be there!

We made it there by 7am and helped her settle in. As it was a test with a couple of components, she was going to be there for atleast 4 hours. In this situation, we leave a card at reception and ask them to contact us atleast 30 minutes before the client is ready so we can get back to them in time.

Heading out to the shops for a short trip or you'd like to spend a few hours there?

Either way, we are happy to support you! We can stick around while you take care of what you need to (and accompany/help you if you wish) or we can come back for you.

Recently, we started supporting a lady in a wheelchair to be able to get to the shops and spend a few hours there with her carer. She can get in and out of the wheelchair so for the car trip, we assist where needed to make that easier for her.

We have taken her to Westfield Knox once and now to The Pines Shopping Centre a couple of times.

She requested that we park on the top level at The Pines as it is nice and easy to get in the lift down to the ground floor.

Heading out for a meal but you need help getting there?

One of our lovely new clients has decided not to drive anymore and some places aren't as easy to get to by bus. We are glad we were recommended to her by a family member. She was off to lunch with a friend today.

Three days a week we support a teacher client that lives in Doncaster East get to and from work.

Traffic can often be fun but all the more time for conversation and laughter or some rest for our lovely client. 😊
