2020 what a year indeed!

Thank you to everyone for your beautiful words, encouragement and following along with our adventures! It means a lot that our family photos and ramblings made most of you smile, and a lot more of you realise that your dreams are possible! ✨

As we wave off a year that gave us more than we could ever have imagined (even if at times it felt a little uncertain, but that just adds to the adventure hey?!!), we welcome 2021 with excitement in our hearts. We are ready to embrace our future ventures and would also love to wish you all health, happiness & everything in your wildest dreams. Yes, it takes work, but no dream is too big, and our time here is precious.

Anyway, that’s our attempt at wise words from the un-wise 😂😂🤪 2021 we’re coming at ya!!!

One big amazing Christmas afternoon and night with Pottsville family and friends 🎄

We had enough roast turkey, pork, ham and all the Pommy trimmings to sink a battle ship, followed by a delicious dessert table not done justice by the huge mains we all stuffed down!

Dinner was followed by disco ball dancing and some fully clothed swimming 😂 (not voluntarily might I add 🤣🤣 *cue getting dragged off a UK FaceTime call and over the sofa!!)

A fun and festive Christmas to remember!! ✨

Christmas morning with the family 🥰 Lots of squealing, paper balling and throwing, cheesy Christmas music followed by croissants and then a bike ride. (Oh how we’ve missed having bikes to pootle about on!) Perfect!

2020 was certainly a year like no other in so many ways! One our family will never ever forget ✨

We can’t think of the words at the moment, so we’ll just leave this map here for now until we can think of a suitable wrap up!!

We’re excited for Christmas with our beautiful Aussie family and then new ventures in 2021!

It was at this exact moment we might’ve just told the girls ‘today’s the day we go home and surprise Auntie Louise!’ Needless to say it went down well.

First stop was some Timezone action and sushi. Well, what to do on a rainy day when you can’t pull off said surprise until the evening?! It was quite comical with the bad weather today....Polly said, upon arrival at Coolangatta, “Mum, is it Winter here?!” 😂 Nope, I know we’ve travelled some insane kilometres, but it’s still the same country sweetheart...and still Summer!! 🤣

Phew!!! Just playing catch up on our posts big style!

We had a great four nights at BIG4 Helensvale just scooting and swimming. But the absolute best bit was that, between our amazing friend Nicola and us, we concocted a huge surprise for the girls! We might say ‘friends’, but these guys are family to us, and when you haven’t seen them for over 14 months, it was just a teeny bit exciting!! Hearing the girls squeal ‘Auntie Nicola!!’ was the best! It wasn’t until they saw the illuminated joker on top of the Movie World ride that they even realised how close we were to home. So it goes without saying they were not expecting to see these familiar faces 😍

The last two days in camp felt kind of surreal knowing we were so close to the end of our lap. Even though the girls thought we were heading back north for a bit, we knew different!! 😉 (Well we had to throw our family off the scent AND they did ask for a surprise 😂😂)

Brisvegas baby!!

Our closest capital city to home meaning we’ve now visited the capital of every single state and territory on this lap.

As a huge treat, we surprised the girls with two nights in an apartment at South Bank. The squeals of delight at the view, and utter amazement at real life china plates were something else! And that was just Mum 😉😂

Although we couldn’t get tickets for the Enchanted Garden in Roma Parklands or the big Christmas Concert, there was still plenty of other festive goodies on offer and street entertainment everywhere. We razzed around on electric scooters and then watched the light show on City Hall.

It’s one of our most regularly visited cities given that it’s so close, so we have no doubt that we’ll be back again soon ❤️

Life is just one big ad-venture...well, that’s how we see it!

Join us as we start our next venture - exploring in our own ‘backyard’!! Having drawn so much inspiration from fellow travelling families, we got a taste of the diverse and jaw-dropping places Australia has to offer. We both grew up camping and caravanning in the UK, and with myself (Sarah) working in the industry, we knew we just had to ‘lap up’ this amazing country in a caravan! We’ve come a long way since 2003...

Flashback to a young, early twenty-something couple, who believed their paths were destined to cross, leading them to explore everything life has to offer and squeezing every drop out of it! Since that night 16+ years ago, we have packed in a fair old bit. After hanging up our boots in various roles including a trans-Atlantic flight attendant and cabinet maker, we’ve travelled the world together (well, a good chunk of it) with our trusty back-packs, moved across the globe from the UK to sunny Pottsville in Australia, and had a complete change in careers. Soon to follow were two full-of-beans little unicorn/skateboard-loving girls, our Aussie Citizenship (hurrah!) and then the project of building our wonderful home from the ground up. Life was good, so good, and we loved Pottsville, our wonderful community, friends, friends-who-are-really-family, and having actual family back just around the corner - yeeehaa!

Fast forward to 2019, still soooo happy, but needing a change, a rest and reset, and a chance to peel back and experience more with our little girls whilst they are still small and still WANT to! We’d always dreamed of travelling this beautiful sunburnt land when we retired, as the grey nomads do, but a few things this past few years got us thinking....tomorrow is promised to nobody and we are just not the type to take this life in all it’s glory for granted. I for one, sure don't know if I’ll be able to tackle some of those off-the-beaten-track, must-see sights when I’m in my 70’s??! You’ve heard the saying ‘You can make more money, but you can never make more time’ and this is one that has always stuck with us. Don’t get us wrong, a Lotto win would be right up there (and we still hold out hope, and I am still in the work syndicate (thank you North Star!)), but you could be the richest man on the planet, and sadly be oh-so-poor in experiences and time. I could try and explain in a couple of paragraphs, but just can’t, and this is why we’re setting up a blog to catch my life time’s worth of ramblings!! Anyway.... in pursuit of fulfilling this dream a little earlier than we anticipated, we sold up and, before embarking on making another house our own, we decided to travel this amazing country we have called ‘home’ for the past 11 years. And we are SO. DAMN. PUMPED! “

Off-road Caravan - check, 4WD truck - check, Distance Education registration - check, oodles and oodles of man and woman-hours spent on planning the ‘perfect’ road trip experience - check! And aren't we lucky that this style of travelling is so widely embraced as an amazing education in itself for our children! We are still pinching ourselves!
