Today marks Bus Driver Appreciation Day - a chance to recognise theimportant role bus drivers play in keeping communities across Victoria moving.

Every day, drivers help passengers travel safely to work, school, appointmentsand home. It’s a role that requires professionalism, patience and care.

Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected at work. Abuse or aggressiontowards bus drivers is never acceptable.

Thank you to all bus drivers for the vital work you do to keep passengers moving safely every day.

Bus drivers manage a lot throughout the day — from busy roads to challenging passenger interactions.

That’s why your wellbeing matters. Staying calm, taking moments to reset during breaks, and following your organisation’s safety procedures when situations become difficult can help protect both you and your passengers.

Supporting driver wellbeing helps create safer journeys for everyone.

We're delighted to be introducing Geoff Drucker from Countrywide Hydrogen to discuss the role of hydrogen fuel cell buses in a zero emissions future at our Transitioning to ZEB Summit on 27 July 2024.

Geoff is MD of Countrywide Hydrogen, an Australian company developing green hydrogen projects that create Hydrogen HyWays across Australia to decarbonise road transport, power generation and industrial heating. His experience in the renewable energy space spans over 30 years. Geoff’s first Hydrogen HyWay will link the north and south of Tasmania, and his second connects the Green Triangle of Victoria and SA with the states’ capitals.

His session at the 27 July Summit will be invaluable for any firm considering a transition to hydrogen fuel cell electric buses.

Two key virtues of local bus operators: community leadership and social conscience. Both evidenced today wish gusto where, at our annual All Aboard event, we unpacked employment of indigenous Australians with Abigail Peak from Social Traders and Kimberly Keen from Kinaway, the recruitment of women with Mikeala Stafrace from Women Can and Charlotte Dillon from YWCA, and youth at-risk with Tanya Hendry from Whitelion and Jerome Haoust from Crown. All focused on driving inclusion. And thank you Rhiannon Tracey for jnspiring everyone with your story. Thank you Julia Evans for chairing!
