"I literally punched a hole in my own boat hull and drove it into deep water." 👊
When Wayne (a former Perth roof plumber of 35 years) had a major workplace accident that took away his ability to work with his hands, he knew sitting at a desk wasn’t in his DNA.
Then came a recurring dream. Three times, he kept seeing a protective skin designed to stop boats and jet skis from sinking and let them tow at speed without drowning their engines.
He got up in the middle of the night, sketched it at the kitchen table, and searched the internet. Nothing like it existed anywhere in the world.
So Wayne built a prototype. And to prove it worked? He did what any rational inventor would do: he smashed a hole in the bottom of his own boat and drove it straight into deep water.
The second the Emergency Boat Skin (EBS) unrolled, the water intake drastically decreased. It actually worked.
Fast forward a little while—Wayne was having a quiet night at his local bowling club when he got talking to Michael, a digital marketing specialist with 15 years under his belt scaling global brands. When Michael heard the story of the dream, the patent, and the boat hull smashing, he was hooked.
Two blokes with completely different backgrounds met over a pint, became mates, and joined forces.
Today, EBS is patented, tested with naval architects, and trusted by Australian marine rescue units to keep skippers and rescue crews safe on the water.
From a kitchen table sketch to saving boats and jet skis and, most importantly, lives. 💙
