Yesterday marked the start of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug risk season for 2026-27, and as we've highlighted in the past, acting early and being informed is key to ensuring goods from high-risk countries arrive with minimal disruption.

Securing approved treatment providers early, maintaining accurate documentation and staying up to date with Australian Government department is key, and can be the different between smooth customs clearance and costly delays.

🛡️ National Biosecurity Week | Protecting What We Value 🛡️

This National Biosecurity Week, we're recognising the vital role biosecurity plays in protecting Australia’s environment, food supply, economy and way of life.

For those of us in the supply chain, biosecurity is something we see and manage every day - and with Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) season commencing 1 September, it’s an important time for importers to be prepared. 🪲

BMSB remains a significant biosecurity risk to Australia, with seasonal measures applying to certain goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries between 1 September and 30 April.

At EES Shipping, we work closely with our clients, customs brokers, transport providers and overseas partners to help ensure goods move safely, compliantly and efficiently across borders.

As BMSB season approaches, now is the perfect time to:
📦 Review upcoming shipments
🌏 Check country of origin and BMSB requirements
🛡️ Confirm treatment arrangements where required
⏰ Plan ahead to help minimise unnecessary delays and costs

Typhoon Dolphin is making its presence felt across China; with the storm now hitting land along the country’s eastern coastline, authorities are taking significant measures to protect people, infrastructure and maritime operations.

Several ports are suspending or restricting operations, with parts of Shanghai and Ningbo already affected. Vessels are being moved away from the storm’s path and marine traffic is being disrupted, with residual delays to continue in the weeks ahead. Flight cancellations and airport disruptions are adding another layer of complexity for time-sensitive cargo, particularly around Shanghai and eastern China.

For Australian importers with cargo moving out of China, now is the time to keep a close eye on ETDs, vessel schedules and container availability.
The EES team are monitoring the situation closely and will keep our customers updated as conditions evolve.

✨ An evening celebrating the people behind global trade. ✨

The EES Shipping team had the pleasure of attending this year's WA International Trade Ball, where we swapped shipping schedules and container updates for black tie, great company, and a fantastic night celebrating our industry. 🍾

Events like these are a great reminder that while logistics keeps the world moving, it's the relationships we build along the way that make our industry so special.

Beyond bringing the international trade community together, the evening also supported Feed it Forward - an incredible Western Australian charity dedicated to rescuing quality surplus food and redistributing it to people experiencing food insecurity across our community.

A huge thank you to the organisers for another memorable event and to everyone who made the night such a success. We're proud to be part of an industry that not only connects businesses around the world but also comes together to support causes that make a real difference.
