Tokyo Metro to begin one-person operation on the entire Ginza Line from the 27th
Tokyo Metro will start driver-only (one-person) operation across the whole Ginza Line from the 27th.
Tokyo Metro’s Ginza Line will become the fifth line in the network to adopt one-person operation. Safety measures include installing monitors in the driver’s cab that allow the driver to check all train doors and passenger boarding/alighting conditions.
Anticipating future labour shortages, the move is intended to create a system that can maintain stable operations with fewer staff.
