Why you check your oil level daily; on this particular day when I checked the oil level, I noticed it was significantly higher than the previous day (without having added any oil) so I knew something was wrong. The poor old girl had blown a head gasket and leaked a significant volume of coolant into the sump resulting in the increase in the level on the dipstick.

I love getting to pull apart my truck when it has issues. Recently my clutch stopped working properly, I could not get enough motion on the slave cylinder to fully disengage the clutch. I suspect the issue to be an O-ring on the end of the push rod of the master cylinder that seals the loop and prevents fluid from flowing back into the reservoir, which is integrated in the master cylinder directly on top of the piston, with the fill point being the boot which the push rod passes through. It’s a bit of a peculiar setup! By pulling it apart my self I now have a keen understanding of exactly how it operates. I’ll take the master and slave to a professional now for a full service to ensure there aren’t any other issues with it before reinstalling.

A little more over the shoulder action. This was a joyride trip with a co-driver. Unbeknownst to me, at the time this video was taken the old Louisville had bad injectors (as good as water pistols the testing place said), double blown head gaskets, and a pinhole in one cylinder. I have since had all those issues fixed, and also run premium diesel in it. I’ve been told premium diesel has a higher Lubricity and will prolong the life of the fuel pump.
