Two things happen to fuel in WA today.

1. The $100 Fuel Support Payment opens. Every valid WA licence holder can claim a one-off $100 in the ServiceWA app.
2. The federal excise relief halves, so prices start climbing about 16c a litre, with the rest returning in early August.

WA drivers, there's a free $100 coming. From 1 July, every valid WA licence holder can claim a one-off $100 Fuel Support Payment in the ServiceWA app. Around 2.3 million people are eligible.

Good news with a catch: the federal fuel excise relief has been extended, but cut in half.
Petrol was set to jump on 1 July. Instead the discount runs through July at half strength, so expect about 16c a litre more from the 1st, with the rest snapping back in early August.

Perth, fuel prices change every single day, and most of us are just guessing when to fill up.

So how far will the $100 actually go?
At Perth's current ULP91 average (~189.5 c/L), $100 buys about 52 litres, roughly one tank for a mid-size car.
Want to stretch it further? Time your fill at the weekly cycle low. In Perth that's usually Tuesday. The difference between cheap day vs expensive day is often 10-15 c/L, could be another 5-7 litres of fuel for the same money.
Smart move: claim the $100 from 1 July, then use ServoScout to find the cheapest day to spend it.

Heads up, mark 30 June on your calendar.
That's the day the federal 26.3 c/L fuel excise cut expires. The day after, the WA Government's one-off $100 Fuel Support Payment opens for claims via the ServiceWA app.
Two things to watch:

Retailers will likely rebuild margins fast once full excise returns
Claim your $100 from 1 July

If you can time a fill at the cycle low in the last week of June (Tuesday tends to be the day in Perth), you'll dodge the worst of the price bounce.

Wondering why your fuel bill stopped getting cheaper?
Here's what FuelWatch's own data shows. The 26.3 c/L federal excise cut (started 30 March) has fully flowed through to consumers. Retailer margins are now below the historical average and even dipped negative in late April.
Translation: prices are about as low as they're going to get under the current settings. The weekly cycle still matters (Tuesday tends to be cheapest in Perth), but no big drops coming.

That's when the WA Government's one-off $100 Fuel Support Payment becomes claimable via the ServiceWA app. Every WA driver's licence holder is eligible, including learners, P-platers, full, and extraordinary licences.
Not eligible if your licence is cancelled, suspended, or expired.
