If you live in the Wheatbelt, you know that accessing essential services often means travelling long distances.
For many people in our community, a medical appointment in Perth means hundreds of kilometres of travel in a single day.
Many of the passengers we transport are seniors or people living with disability who rely on services like ours because public transport options in regional areas are limited.
At the same time, fuel prices have increased by around 30% and continue to rise. For passenger transport providers covering long regional distances every day, these increases add up quickly. Having daily access to fuel for our vehicles is crucial and is under threat.
We are doing everything we can to keep running and avoid passing the full cost of these increases on to our customers, because we know many people in regional communities are already dealing with rising living costs and are dependent on our services.
The reality is that rising fuel prices and limited services affect regional communities the hardest.
Transport in the country isn’t just about getting from A to B — for many people it means access to healthcare, independence, and staying connected to the community.
For many Wheatbelt residents, transport isn’t a convenience — it’s the only way to access healthcare.
At Wheatbelt Passenger Services we don’t just provide transport — we care deeply about our community and the people who rely on us.
If you live in the Wheatbelt or another regional area, how far do you have to travel to access healthcare or essential services?
