Celebrating 150 years of GV Health 👏🏼

It was a pleasure to attend today’s commemorative book launch of ‘Proud to Serve – 1876 to 2026’, bringing to life the stories, people and moments that have defined healthcare in our region.

From the very beginning, GV Health was shaped by its community and its legacy continues with each generation.

Congratulations to author Jay Bryce, GV Health Board, Historical Society of Mooroopna, and staff involved in contributing to GV Health’s success over the past 150 years.

It is a proud moment for our region, and as mentioned today, there are many more chapters of this story yet to come.

Despite the challenging economic environment, our community will continue to come together to step up and raise funds to support our most vulnerable.

A packed room of almost 250 people came together to raise $121,400 at the annual Shepparton Foodshare Make A Meal Of June Event.

In addition to the donated funds, this financial year has seen 738,000 kg of food donated, with 700,000 kg distributed to community members facing hardship.
That’s 40% up on the same period last financial year!

The team of hardworking volunteers and leaders of Shepparton Foodshare deserve our thanks for their ongoing dedication to helping our community.

There is no question that everyday we are extremely grateful for the work our first responders do.

As Mayor I have had the opportunity to work alongside our first responders during some of the most challenging times our community has faced.

While we appreciate them year‑round, today offers an important opportunity to recognise the extraordinary service they provide to keep us safe.

Over the long weekend, three big days of action saw 42 teams battle it out in the Softball Victoria Masters Championships in Mooroopna.

Teams traveled from far and wide, including Brisbane and even a squad from New Zealand, showcasing the event’s popularity.

Celebrating a well-deserved honor for a true community pillar. Dale Wright, awarded an OAM in the King’s Birthday Honours List.

Dale’s decades of service speak for themselves:

• 43 years as the organist for the St Brendan’s community
• 33 years producing the Ecumenical service and the “Stations of the Cross” at St Brendan’s
• 30 years championing men’s mental fitness with the 13-week program “Talking Straight”
• Distinguished past president of the former Kiwanis Club of Shepparton and longtime Kiwanis Sunrises member
• Active member of Rupertswood Numurkah Lodge
• Regular participant with the Victorian Police Blue Ribbon Foundation
• Paul Harris Fellow recipient from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International

This recognition is not just about years served, but the countless lives touched.
