The only way to find true science of the numbers of bull sharks (also a whaler) and Pig Eye Whalers is to spend the $88million dollars back into the commercial shark fishing industry we barely have in QLD now.
What’s your opinions people?
Keep in mind, this shark plague problem is not aimed at (Tigers, Hammer heads, black/white tip reefies, lemons sharks, etc).
Just the above two species mentioned above.

The MBBA AND MBCA Have been advocating for the instalation of extra pontoons for safety and sensability. Jobs and business lost here.

QuickCoast by Myroo Group is very sad to announce that, despite our best efforts to reconcile with the Cassowary Coast Regional Council, we have made the difficult decision not to return QuickCoast operations to Mission Beach.

Given the new circumstances that have developed since October 2025 surrounding the management of the Clump Point Marine Facility, we were ultimately forced to suspend operations due to what we considered unsafe berthing demands imposed by council facility management. At the same time, other operators were permitted to continue operating from pontoons outside applicable DTMR regulations and were reportedly allowed overnight use of pontoons without valid berthing agreements in place. To date, we have received no satisfactory explanation regarding this unequal treatment seemingly in favour with new operators who have no valid marine facility agreement.

Even with the prospect of further investment in infrastructure, we no longer have confidence in the management approach following numerous events, actions, and bad representations made since early 2023. Council representatives attended meetings throughout 2022 to work collaboratively through the marine facility’s limitations so that QuickCoast could relocate and operate safely from Clump Point at Mission Beach.

Our workplace health and safety obligations to both crew and passengers must always remain our highest priority. Following a number of decisions and ongoing operational difficulties affecting our business since early 2023, we have ultimately concluded that continuing operations under the current circumstances is no longer commercially or operationally viable. Unfortunately, the ongoing hindrance to the success and stability of our company has reached a point where it can no longer be sustained.

With these unfair conditions that council have created, after considerable deliberation and with heavy hearts, we have made the decision to relocate QuickCoast and its operations to Sydney, where we believe our services can continue in a more stable and professionally managed operating environment.

We are currently arranging cancellations and refunds for forward bookings, and we sincerely apologise for the disappointment this news may cause. This decision comes despite the enormous effort and dedication our crew has invested over many years in creating an outstanding and professional tourism experience.

We would also like to sincerely thank the many members of the local community who supported us throughout this journey. We are especially grateful to our passengers, local businesses, tourism partners, and supporters who believed in QuickCoast and helped us achieve recognition as a “Best of Queensland Experience” for 2024, 2025, and approved again for 2026 — recognition we sadly have not been able to fully capitalise on.

That community support has meant a great deal to us, and we now look forward to the next chapter for QuickCoast on Sydney Harbour. We warmly welcome our Queensland friends to visit us there in the future.

We remember and honour the life of Captain Alan Tait OAM, who served on the AMSA Board from 1996 to 1999 and made a lasting contribution to maritime safety and seafarer welfare.

We extend our condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.

SUPPORT continues to be expressed for the proper upkeep of Mission Beach’s Perry Harvey Jetty, after The Observer’s article on a letter written to council by the daughter of the tourism pioneer who the jetty was named after.

Public notice - It seems that the snap send solve APP is not all as claimed.

CCRC Please let the community know why this hazard has not been removed or replaced. The fiber glass edging of the pontoons at clump point has been in this state for over six months. It has been reported several times as a serious risk to boaties, children and pets.

Could someone also comment on the replacement of the solar powered lights that started falling from their poles. Many have commented directly about the lack of lighting on the access for the" tendered " births.

There must be some fantastic explanation involving budget, priorities, jurisdiction, supply chains, fuel prices, santa clause?

Would the CCRC like the MBBA to apply for a community grant to help you along with basic maintanance of community infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient boating.

Our members are our priority and they are asking for action. Please reply to [email protected]
