Hi Team,
I’ve been sitting on this decision for a while and putting off posting because I have mixed emotions. But, after lots of consideration I’ve decided to step away from Macedon Ranges Mumma. Life is a juggle at the moment with my new job, editing the Gazette, my creative writing projects, and most importantly, my family. I just can’t give MRM the time it deserves. I wish I had the time and energy to continue but I’m trying to slow down and focus on what I need to at this point in my life.
I would love it if someone else would like to take it over, especially someone who is out and about in the Ranges and has young preschool or primary aged kids and will benefit from knowing and sharing what’s on for families.
I started MRM as a passion project in 2019 and 7 years on, it has 8.5k engaged followers across Instagram and pages and groups. The website has staple blogs with playground, bushwalk and cafe recommendations and much more for local families. I started the Facebook group during Covid, and then continued with meet ups in parks until my kids got to school and then transitioned to business catch ups.
I’m so grateful for the support of local businesses when I offered advertising and began a Shop Local Initiative. I believe someone could continue to support our local businesses community and earn a reasonable side hustle income, especially if they had the right skills to do this.
I’ve poured hundreds, potentially thousands, of hours into Macedon Ranges Mumma over the years and whilst I’m grateful for creating a small income whilst supporting local businesses, I’ve really gained so much more that. I’ve learnt so much about our area, met a truckload of legends, connected people with others, have met amazing local business owners, supported local organizations, encouraged collaborations, learnt many new skills, and made lifelong friends.
Thank you for your support, encouragement and for following for all these years. Thanks to my writer sister , my group admin helpers 🙏🏼 and the beautiful biz crew ❤️ You know who you are! What an adventure this has been! The rest is still unwritten…
Kat xx
