Looking for something to do with the kids in Launnie these school holidays? 🍎

The Little Food Festival has taken over Civic Square today and tomorrow from 10am – 4pm, and it’s a great one to add to the list whether you’re visiting Launceston or lucky enough to call it home. 💚

This free family event is all about helping curious little foodies discover where their food comes from, with plenty of hands-on activities to get involved in. From planting and growing to tasting, creating and learning, there’s lots to keep young explorers busy (and their grown-ups too!).

It’s also the perfect excuse for a wander through the city while you’re there. Grab a coffee, explore the C*D and spend a few hours enjoying everything happening in Civic Square. 🍏🍓🥦

There’s something pretty special about sharing Launceston’s darker stories with people who are just as curious about our city as we are.

Our Dark Side of Launceston tour takes you beyond the beautiful buildings and streetscapes, into the stories that aren’t always as easy to spot. Convicts, crime, hangings, bushrangers, hauntings and some of the more difficult chapters of our colonial past all form part of the story.

To have someone come along, really connect with those stories, and then take the time to leave such a thoughtful review afterwards means more to us than they probably realise.

We absolutely loved taking people through Launceston during Junction, stepping inside galleries and creative spaces, meeting some of the people behind them, and discovering the art hiding in plain sight along our streets.

And while the festival might be finished for another year, our Launceston Art Walk is available to book as a private experience.

We'll take your group beyond the traditional gallery walls, exploring current exhibitions, independent creative spaces, public art, architecture and the stories behind the people shaping Launceston's creative side.

One of our favourite things about this walk is that it can change with the city. Different exhibitions, different spaces and different artists mean there's always something new to discover.

So, if you're planning a weekend in Launceston, looking for something different to do with friends, or have a group you'd love to bring together, get in touch with us.

We love seeing Tasmania’s stories continue to be told. 💚

Recently, we had the pleasure of chatting with Mark, the creator of Strewth – Australian True Crime and Mystery Podcast, about some of the people and stories that form part of our Dark Side of Launceston tour.

His latest episode, The Mathinna Mystery, is now out, and we were so excited to hear Launceston By Foot get a mention along the way!

Mark’s storytelling had us completely hooked. The way he brought the stories of Jefferies and Ellen to life was fascinating and, even knowing these stories as well as we do, by the end Roz was still sitting there thinking, “What did George do?!”

It’s always special hearing another storyteller explore Tasmania’s history from a different perspective, and Mark has done these stories justice.

Thanks again for getting us involved, Mark, and for continuing to dig into the fascinating, complicated and sometimes very dark stories of Tasmania’s past.

What a weekend! 💚 Junction brought a whole lot of surprise and delight to Launceston, and we loved seeing the city come alive in ways you wouldn't always expect.

There were lights and music filling the city, dancing through the square, and even a pumping club hidden away in a space you'd never expect to find one. We found a speakeasy tucked into the old stables, plenty of fun for the kids, great food, and more than a few Du Cane Brewing pales enjoyed in the spring sunshine.

And of course, we loved being part of the festival with our Art Walk, taking people through Launceston's incredible creative spaces, while discovering the public art, architecture and stories in between. A huge thank you to everyone who came exploring with us!

That's what we love about JUNCTION ARTS FESTIVAL. It encourages you to experience Launceston a little differently, wander into unexpected places, step through doors you might normally walk past, and discover something happening around the next corner.

We had such a fun weekend exploring it all and seeing so many people out enjoying our city.

Junction is in full swing! ✨

Madi and Roz headed along to the opening party last night and can confirm, the park is ALIVE!

There are sights and sounds around every corner, light dancing through the trees and across the fountain, plenty of movement, dance and a few surprises along the way. It’s pretty special seeing the city come alive like this.

If you haven't made it along yet, make sure you head into the city this weekend, have a wander and soak up everything Junction has to offer.

And, of course, we’ll be out exploring Launceston’s creative side too with our Art Walk. 💚 See you out there!

Roz is always eager to learn more about Tasmania’s convict history, and this time her exploring took her to Richmond Gaol, Australia’s oldest intact colonial gaol, now an incredible 200 years old.

There’s something powerful about stepping inside the places where this history actually happened. Walking through the cells, reading the stories of the men and women who passed through them, and seeing the conditions they experienced adds another layer to our understanding of Tasmania’s colonial past.

And for us, that learning never really stops. Exploring convict sites and stories across the island helps us better understand the much bigger picture and continue building the context behind the stories we share on Dark Side of Launceston.

Back in Launceston, Dark Side brings you into one concentrated part of that much bigger story: the people, punishment and realities of life in a colonial town.

Come walk it with us and discover the stories hiding in plain sight.

A little time out for Roz and her beautiful family. 💚

Tasmania’s East Coast has an abundance of incredible food, w**e and spirits to discover, with some pretty spectacular views to enjoy alongside them.

Roz has been making the most of it, with stops at Devil’s Corner, Elly’s Tasting Table and Waverley Distillery to start soaking up some well-earned time away.

One of the best parts of exploring Tasmania is discovering just how much there is to taste, see and experience along the way. And we have a feeling a few of these spots might make their way into Roz’s future tour recommendations! 🍷
