Have you booked your Christmas travel yet?
After a family chat, we’ve decided to head to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan in Thailand for Christmas. This year is our 20‑year anniversary, and since we honeymooned on Koh Phangan, it feels like the perfect full‑circle moment.
Back then, travel looked very different for us. We stayed in a simple beachfront cabin for $34 a night — no air‑conditioning, no Wi‑Fi, just the ocean, a sandy path to a tiny beach bar, and the kind of quiet that doesn’t really exist anymore. It was basic, beautiful, and exactly what we needed at the time.
So we’re going back, this time with Hunter. Of course, our travel style has changed, and so has Koh Phangan. Instead of a rustic cabin, we’ll be at a lovely 4‑star resort with all the comforts we’ve grown used to: a gym for Hunter, a spa, great food, a beach bar, and of course, air conditioning!
On Koh Samui, we’ll be staying on Bophut Beach near Fisherman’s Village. We’re planning an easy Christmas where our biggest decisions will be where to have dinner and which spa treatment to book.
