🏀 $20 MILLION COMMITMENT FOR NEW INDOOR SPORTS COURTS AT ESSENDON FIELDS! 🏐
Fantastic news for Moonee Valley, our local sporting clubs and the thousands of families involved in basketball and netball across our community!
The Victorian Liberals have announced a $20 million commitment towards new indoor basketball and netball facilities at Essendon Fields, to be delivered under a Jess Wilson Liberal Government. I thank and for coming out to make the announcement. Also great to see community advocate .mvcc there as well
I'm particularly pleased about this announcement for two reasons.
Firstly, a competition-grade indoor sports facility at Essendon Fields is specifically identified as a priority in Moonee Valley City Council's Advocacy Strategy 2026–29. Council has already committed $10 million towards the project, subject to securing additional government funding.
This is exactly why Council advocates to other levels of government: to attract investment in the infrastructure our growing community needs.
Secondly, Essendon Fields is in my ward! As a local Councillor, I'm delighted to see this proposed investment in our part of Moonee Valley, with benefits that will extend right across our municipality and beyond.
I've always believed investing in community sport is about much more than buildings and basketball courts. It's about healthier communities, stronger connections and giving young people opportunities to participate, belong and thrive.
This is a significant commitment towards delivering a project our community needs and Council has been actively advocating for.
