📍 Princetown, VIC

Nestled right next to the 12 Apostles, on the Great Ocean Road, this little gem 💎 was the perfect 🤩 little getaway! We stayed at the Princetown Recreation Reserve and Camping 🏕️ boasting the best caretakers in the world 🌎 who we are lucky 🍀 enough to call family friends ❣️

📍 Warrnambool, VIC | PART ONE

Wow! 😯 Where you grow up always holds a special place in your heart ♥️ and it was nice to be back at our home away from home 🏡 with the family for an extended stay! And just in time for the Big Man 🎅🏽 to come!

Living away from family and friends can be hard at times 😞 especially through milestones like being pregnant 🤰🏼, moving house, having babies and the likes. Throw in Covid 🦠 and it was rough these past few years not even being able to fly ✈️ over to visit for a family fix! ❤️‍🩹

This was our second visit back to Warrnambool in 2022 👏 but this time was with our home 🏡 on wheels 🛞 in tow. Safe to say, the van wasn’t needed 🚫 and we had my sister and her beautiful family host us during our lonnnnnnnngg stay… forever grateful 🥹 She really is the ‘hostess with the mostest’ 💃

There was Pa, Narnie, Nana, aunties and uncles, cousins and cousins’ boyfriends and girlfriends, sleepovers, mum’s primary school friends, mum’s high school friends, mum’s uni friends, mum’s old work friends! 😍 Catch-ups galore ✨ and lots of fun! 🙌Oh and lots of eating 🐷 and drinking 🥂

📍 Mildura, VIC

A vibrant regional city 🌆 full of contrast, from the Murray River 💧 to the outback 🤠, there is something for everyone ☺️

This wasn’t our first rodeo 🐴 here so we really didn’t play tourist, but it did mark the start of the family fest 🥰 that was to follow over the next month! 🙌

So grateful to stay at my nieces beautiful 🤩 new home 🏡 Maddie, and her husband-to-be Luke made us feel totally 💯 at home away from home. And a bed, my goodness, a real bed! 🛌😍😍

📍 Renmark, SA

Renmark, South Australia, Australia sits majestically 💫 on the banks of the River Murray and is named after an Aboriginal word meaning ‘red mud.’ ❤️ It lies on a sweeping river bend and has one of the most beautiful 🤩 and accessible riverfronts with impressive ochre-coloured 🧡 cliff tops. The town here was established in 1887.

More recently, the River Murray’s floodwaters 🌧 have transformed Renmark into an island 🏝 town, with some properties fully submerged and small patches of land surrounded by water.

With initially a little bit of hesitation 😳 from me (…because floods!), we slept 😴 off grid, right alongside - LITERALLY - the Murray for the night. And I’m so glad 😃 we did. It was so tranquil and the little nature fix we all needed! ✨💧🍃🔥 A good opportunity to get the drone out too 🙌

Many of the local caravan parks BIG4 Renmark Riverfront and Riverbend Caravan Park, Renmark are currently closed, with their immediate focus on maintaining their levees to protect their parks from the high waters expected at the end of December 📆 It’s heartbreaking 💔 for these businesses that should be going into peak season and their busiest time of the year🎄right now 😔

Before we setup for the night we popped into Wilkadene Woolshed Brewery 🍻 from a local’s recommendation. You could make your own platters with local produce 🧀🥨 and they had a gorgeous nature play area 💦 too. What a hidden gem 💎, we could just imagine how busy it would be over the weekends! Currently they’re renting out their houseboats moored up (you can’t drive them as it’s too dangerous ⚠️) but unfortunately they weren’t setup ready to go when we enquired 👍 That would have been cool 😎

To Mildura we go!✌️Cannot wait to see my niece 💗

📍 Barossa Valley, SA

The Barossa, South Australia, Australia is an internationally-acclaimed wine 🍇 region encompassing the towns of Tanunda, Angaston and Nuriootpa. It’s just a 50 minute drive 🚘 north-east of Adelaide and we arrived early at Discovery Holiday Parks - Barossa Valley ready to play 👏 for a few days. From tasting “officially” some of best wines 🍷 in the world 🌏, to sipping a few local froths 🍺, cheeses 🧀, chocolate 🍫 and bowling 🎳, you can discover it all in the Barossa! We were devastated 😢 the kids weren’t old ejnough for the 🌄 hot air balloon 🎈experience because it would have been 10/10! Next time 😉

We wandered into countless cellar doors 🍷🍷🍷 during our three night stay and definitely had our fair share of sumptuous local produce! 🍽🧀🍐🥖🧈 Of course there were some bribes 🙊 for Arlee along the way… bowling 🎳 and some kid-friendly places because wineries are not her fave, but we all were winners here! 🙌

I saw this on a cookie 🍪 in the Information Centre and it made me LOL 😝 ‘In the Barossa for all the right reislings.’ 😂😂

Recommendations:
- Z WINE Barossa Valley - kiddy platter 🧃🥨 and kiddy corner for the win! The adults got platters and paddles too 👍
- Whistler Wines - kangaroo 🦘 enclosure for the kiddies 👧🏼👶🏼 and wine 🍷 for us 😋
- Penfolds Winery, Barossa Valley - Ado ‘big dog’ 🐶 tasted 👅 the holy “Grange” 🍷
- Maggie Beer's Farm Shop 👩‍🍳- 5 course meal and I was SO full and happy and if you know me well, me being full is a fabulous feat. Everything was bloody beautiful 🤩 and the cocktails 🍹 (pear 🍐 sour to be precise) were divine 🙌 This was a fave for me! 💁🏼‍♀️
- Barossa Bowland + MiniGolf 🦖🎳 because… bribery 🤷🏼‍♀️… but it really was fun for the whole family! I don’t want to talk about the score though 🙈
- Two Hands Wines ✋✋ - and Adon walked out with two heads 🤣🤣 He loved 🥰 the wines here and we might be eating noodles for a few weeks after what he spent here 🙊 Just joking! 🙃
- Barossa Valley Brewing 🍻 - had a nice local cider here and some delicious 😋 pizza 🍕 It’s opposite the caravan park too! Bonus! ✅
- Four Seasons of Nosh - we popped in here for breakfast 🍳🥞 to fuel ⛽️ up before walking around the street for a look 👀, and we sure are glad we did! It was different and delish. A little milestone too for the little man, ordering his very own breakfast for the first time 😳🙊 Safe to say, he smashed the scrambled eggs! Also 25% off with the Entertainment App 👏
- Tanunda Bakery - great coffee ☕️ and an extensive menu 🥐
- David Franz Wines - another cellar 🍷 door 🚪 and another few bottles for underneath the bed on wheels 😅

And did I mention the caravan park had a water park, pool, kids room and a jumping pillow? Happy child = happy mum and dad 👏👏👏

📍 Adelaide, SA

Absolutely AMAZING City of Adelaide! 🤩🤩🤩 We really loved 🥰 EVERYTHING about our five nights here, and can guarantee that we will be back! 👍 There’s a couple of things I’m already planning ✏️ for on our way back through that we didn’t quite get to this time around 🙌

This city 🌃 is bursting 💥 with culture, events, entertainment, attractions and some of the best wine 🍷 regions 🍃 in the business, and even the world! 🌏 We stayed at the beautiful Big 4 Caravan Park West Beach and it was the perfect location and perfect park. Jumping pillows 🌈, it’s own water 💦 park, pool 🏊🏻‍♀️, gas fire 🔥 pit, mini golf ⛳️, on-site cafe ☕️… you name it, it had it!

We managed to get our caravanning Christmas spirit ✨ well and truly alive during this Adelaide stint! 😍 Even though “van life” is such a different December to if we we were at home 🏡 we are making it our own, and finding a new appreciation for just the little things 🥰

What have we been up to❓

🎄 Harbour Town Adelaide DFO - this place is huge and we could have spent way more time (and money 😂) here but we only had a couple of hours on the first afternoon 🛍
🎄 Santas Wonderland - WOW! WOW! WOW! This place was magical and I hope it returns to Perth in the coming years🎅🏽 Total bang for your buck 💰 as the tickets were only $40 each (we booked with friends so they were discounted from $45) inclusive of rides and the works 👏
🎄 MYER Santa Land - the same as in Perth, but Arlee realised this year “the train 🚂 didn’t really move like the Perth one ☝️ does” 🙊 Side note, Alby loved 🥰 meeting the Big Man 🎅🏽
🎄 David Jones - Santa's Magic Cave 🎅🏽 - something different 🫶 and a few little treats in DJs while we were there 👕👟
🎄 Glenelg - in LOVE 😍 with this hip little place 🚃🎡🏖🥂 Arlee and our big man child had so much fun at The Beach House Glenelg arcade 🏀 and we loved the Skyline Ferris Wheel Glenelg 🎡 It was so cool 😎 and the weather was 👌
🎄 SA’s Christmas Lights Competition Winner 💡 just around the corner from our caravan park 💫
🎄 R. M. Williams 🥾 Adon’s dream 💭 come true! But the whole of Adelaide didn’t have his size 🙈
🎄 The D'arenberg Cube in McLaren Vale 🍷 featuring DALÍ AT d'Arenberg 🖼 authentic Salvador Dali bronze sculptures and graphic artworks available to purchase 💵 many over 1 mil 😳
🎄 Hahndorf, South Australia 🥨🇩🇪🍺 Prost! The coolest contemporary village proud 🥹 of its German heritage and settlement, cue beers and pork knuckle 🐷
🎄 Adelaide Hills ⛰ a lovely drive in the hills 💚

📍 Wallaroo, SA

A little coastal escape, Wallaroo is a seaside paradise 🏖 plonked on the Yorke Peninsula and only a two-hour drive from Adelaide! We stayed at a super cool 😎 caravan park, Wallaroo Holiday Park that was a dream come true for the kiddies! We’re talking animal enclosure / petting zoo 🐐, jumping pillow 🌈, pump track and a games room with toy vending machines galore 🧸

You guessed it, another place that boasts more sandy beaches 🌊 that are perfect for swimming 🏊🏻‍♀️ and fishing 🎣 There’s some really rich history 🧐 in and around this area, chic cafes ✌️ and a whole heap of jetty’s getting about!

We loved 😍 the fact that we could drive 🚘 right onto the sand at North Beach, Wallaroo without deflating the tyres 🛞 or anything. The kids ran straight into the surf 🏄🏼‍♀️ to cool down 🏊🏻‍♀️ after we had refuelled with a few cold ones 🍻 and a yummy lunch at the Coopers Alehouse Wallaroo right on the water 💧 They were racing mini sailboats ⛵️ out the front too which was a bit of fun 🤩 to watch!

- Coopers Alehouse Wallaroo 🍺 (buy 1 main meal, get 1 free on the Entertainment App)
- North Beach Kitchen 🥞 (these pancakes had the works - sprinkles, marshmallows and ice cream 🍦)

- Kadina (nearby town) for essentials and shopping 🛍
- Moonta (nearby town) with a museum, good coffee ☕️, train ride 🚂 and lolly shop 🍭
- Port Hughes (nearby town) 🦑
- The Port Hughes Tavern 🥘 so yum 🤤 and huge servings, bonus!
