This is the current state of Somerville Road, the backup road that locals, emergency vehicles and essential workers/vehicles are being advised to use every time Dorrigo Mountain has a landslide and it’s closed. The last 4years there has been talk of upgrading this road so that is actually SAFE to use.
This has not happened , and to make things even more incredibly disappointing and dangerous there are still caravans, campers and trailers and small trucks travelling on this road
I know the road is open to up to 10t vehicles, but you would think the council would at least put people either end of this road stopping those wider vehicles going through because there simply isn’t enough room on some of the stretch of road.
Accountability & lack of care once the Mountain has been cleared, is continuous.
Action towards funding and production on making this road safe needs to be taken
Compensation needs to be given to those who have had to cancel their medical appointments, lose Work, loss of income on farming / harvesting sales, damages to vehicles on these roads that aren’t suitable for the amount of traffic that is being pushed down them.
We are all feed up and now is the time to all stand together and say THIS IS ENOUGH!
Send emails, write letters, voice your opinion on radio stations we need to get the word out there
Stay safe
Don’t drive if you don’t have to and please be mindful and caring towards others travelling on this road
