A lot has been achieved in the last 2 months with the Zonsen installation into the Jabiru 160 airframe. The engine mount was welded up and powder coated, the intake for the cabin heat was installed into the lower engine cowl and a bunch of other stuff was done. The fuselage is close to going to the paint shop. Here are some photos.

While we will shortly be delivering our brand new 110hp Zonsen CA510 engine to the aircraft, an old Rotax is being used to finalise the engine mount geometry, as well as to facilitate the installation of the final engine accessories such as radiator, oil tank and cooler etc. When the new Zonsen engine arrives at the airframes location, we will be able to drop it straight in to replace the Rotax.
The attached photo shows the Rotax and the associated firewall to engine ring frame mount. The prop hub has been determined to be in the identical position to the Jabiru hub and we hope to be able to use the original cowling with minimal modifications. Now to plan the installation of the engine accessories.

The 110hp Zonsen CA510 engine that we displayed at AusFly is about to be installed into a Jabiru J160 airframe, replacing the 80hp Jab2200 originally fitted to the aircraft.
We believe that the extra power and reliability of the Zonsen engine will make it a perfect match to the high quality airframe that Jabiru Australia produces. We are hopeful that the Zonsen conversion will prove popular.
Our airframe is currently undergoing a comprehensive restoration with the airframe work close to being completed. The engine installation will begin shortly. Once finished, we will be conducting a demonstration tour of Australia with the aircraft to allow flying schools and Jabiru owners to experience the new engine first hand, and compare the Zonsen powered Jabiru with their own stock aircraft.
