Have the discovered a vulnerability in ’s layered air defence system? ⚠️

Within the past hour, a breached defences and struck the Club (Kalab) Hotel in , injuring at least 19 people.

Despite Red Alerts signalling that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were tracking the incoming , the system failed to prevent impact in one of Israel’s most frequented southern resort cities. The incident highlights the continuing ability of the Houthis to project force across more than 1,600 kilometres, placing both civilian infrastructure and Israel’s deterrence credibility under strain.

This is not an isolated case. Houthi drones have successfully penetrated Israeli air defences in Eilat on several occasions in recent weeks, despite the majority of attempted strikes being intercepted.

While the Israel Air Force (IAF) and IDF have generally mounted retaliatory strikes within 72 hours of confirmed Houthi successes, the persistence of these breaches raises questions over the sustainability of Israel’s air defence posture.

Houthis warn Saudi Arabia against protecting Israeli shipping in the Red Sea ⚓🚨

leader Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi issued a public statement on 18 September 2025 warning and other regional actors not to militarily support by protecting its commercial in regional waters. The statement, broadcast by Al-Masirah TV, was accompanied by a propaganda poster depicting a container vessel flying the Israeli flag transiting the .

The Houthi statement represents a deliberate escalation in information operations, signalling a red line against Saudi involvement in operations tied to Israeli interests. By publicly framing ’s potential participation as “support for the Israeli enemy,” the Houthis seek to exploit regional sensitivities and undermine Saudi Arabia’s credibility in the and Islamic context. The timing of the statement, coinciding with ongoing missile and drone strikes against Israel, reinforces the Houthis’ intent to position themselves as the vanguard of the so-called resistance axis. This is consistent with their broader strategy of hybrid warfare, blending military pressure with psychological messaging to deter adversaries while legitimising future escalation.

If Saudi Arabia were to contribute openly to naval escorts or surveillance in support of Israeli-linked shipping, the Houthis are likely to expand their target set to include Saudi commercial or naval assets transiting the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Such a development would risk undermining the fragile dialogue between Riyadh and the Houthis, which has been ongoing since 2022, and could reverse recent gains in de-escalation within . More broadly, this statement underscores the Houthis’ willingness to weaponise regional maritime security dynamics in pursuit of political leverage. For external stakeholders, it highlights the increased likelihood that Saudi involvement in coalition maritime operations could serve as a catalyst for renewed Houthi attacks on Gulf shipping lanes, potentially expanding the conflict beyond Israel-linked vessels into a wider confrontation with regional states.

🇮🇱 signals “next phase” in 🚨

Channel 12 reports PM has not responded to the mediator proposal that accepted. Instead, the IDF announced the start of expanded operations in Gaza City.

Intense Israeli airstrikes are currently ongoing across Gaza.

⚖️ Israel’s stated end-goals remain clear: all hostages released + Hamas disarmed. Hamas is unlikely to surrender both key levers at once.

🌍 Regionally, we should expect a response from Yemen in the coming hours—part of an established retaliation cycle whenever Israel escalates.

✈️ For regional stakeholders, the risks extend beyond Gaza: missile alerts, airspace disruption, and potential maritime spillover in the /Arabian Sea.

🔎 Watchpoints (next 72 hrs):
1️⃣ Israeli cabinet’s stance on the truce proposal
2️⃣ Expansion of IDF ground manoeuvre in Gaza City

🚨 Security Alert – UAE, MENA & Global
📅 8 August 2025

🇬🇧 The ’s Foreign Office has updated travel advice for the UAE, warning:

"Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)."

This is an escalation from the earlier alert on 2-3 August in which the UK FCDO warned:

“Due to increasing regional tensions, Israeli and Jewish-linked sites could be targets for terrorists in the UAE.”

Both updates come after evacuated diplomatic personnel and families from the due to mounting regional threats. Sources confirm that Chabad emissaries and members of the community were also withdrawn.

No justification is offered. However:

🔴 Western (predominantly US and possibly UK) businesses, assets and personnel could be at risk for their perceived role in the Gaza conflict.

🔴 The Houthis could conduct drone/missile strikes against the UAE.

🔴 While anti-Semitic incidents in the UAE are historically rare, they are not zero — the murder of a Chabad rabbi in remains a stark reminder of underlying risks.

🔴 There has also been a notable rise in anti-Semitic violent attacks globally, linked to escalating tensions in the region.

🌍 The situation is further compounded by the collapse of fragile Israel- ceasefire talks and growing speculation over a potential Israeli annexation of parts of . The combination of a deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the absence of a near-term ceasefire, and rising regional anger could catalyse a surge in anti-Semitic activity worldwide, including across the Middle East and North ( ), & .

⚠️ Heightened vigilance is advised for all UK, US & Israeli nationals and businesses, Jewish-linked sites, and diplomatic personnel globally.
