On UN Arabic Language Day (18 December), we celebrate a language that carries history, identity, and timeless depth. 🌍📜
Have you ever imagined reading Arabic words without dots? 🤔
Arabic is often called the language of Ḍād because it is the only language in the world that contains the letter ض (ḍād) — a sound so unique that even many non-Arabic speakers struggle to pronounce it or find an equivalent in their own languages.
In its early form, Arabic script had no dots and no diacritics. Words were read through instinct, linguistic skill, and an understanding of context, with similar letters distinguished purely by meaning. Over time, diacritics such as Fatha, Damma, and Kasra were introduced, making the language clearer while preserving its depth and elegance.
A powerful reminder of the richness, intelligence, and beauty woven into the Arabic language. ✨📜
